It’s more famous than Forever but it’s less important. I really love it as an artifact, like all of her books, of a bizarre upper-middle-class gentrified Jewish suburban post-Kennedy (but pre-Reagan) consumer culture. It’s Aspirational and alien to me. Read it in conjunction with her contextually similar books—Forever, Summer Sisters, Wifey. (Really, you should read these things, they’re all super quick.) I also think it pairs well with Prozac Nation, for what it’s worth.
