When I first moved to New York I ran into Ken Park, this guy I slightly knew back in LA who was a big time skateboarder. (TBH I didn’t remember him but he remembered me which never happens.) Anyway he had grown up to be a dick, I met him because I was involved with a lot of artists and writers doing work on the then-new World Wide Web and he worked for some company who wanted content creators to have no rights. Anyway the point AND I HAVE ONE is he was all “I don’t skate any more but I sold my name and my life story to some filmmaker named Larry Clark.” And I was like, “Larry Clark? Have you seen his work?” because I couldn’t imagine that this OC bro dude was going to be down with Larry Clark and his aesthetic and films about teens and drugs and sex. Ken didn’t seem to care and I just sort of laughed every time I thought about it because I heard from someone that “Ken Park” was going to be a porn film and that would be soooooo good, I am all about the long con on my secret revenge fantasies. Then it finally came out and the Ken Park character kills himself in the first few minutes which I’m totally Ok with as well. Here is a photo of Original Ken shredding, he was pretty good.
