more or less, it makes me upset that men constantly have access to me and my feelings; they never shy away from saying things to me that are upsetting or triggering, and unlike when i’m talking to women, if i ask them to stop it immediately becomes a matter of dominance. it’s a show of weakness or disrespect to them to bow out of a conversation with a man. they demand that you engage. they demand that you perform. and if you don’t, you face ultimatums: you aren’t what/who you say you are if you refuse to speak to me about this, because of my dogmatic opinions of how to social justice.

and i’m just, i’m done. i don’t want to anymore and it’s difficult to make myself believe i don’t have to.

we have to make refusing to engage tough. we have to make refusing to engage cool. also, we just have to refuse to engage.
